Jul 20th (Tue) Dormitory Recreation

This year’s recreation for the dormitory students started, surprise surprise, with the annual “barbeque in the rain”! This was then followed by “dares in the dark”, which had been absent from the evening events for a few years but was a great way in which to finish the first day.

The second day turned out to be a bit drier, and the students enjoyed some exercise in the form of cycling and park golf. The fifth years did a marvelous job of planning this year’s outing, and they deserve a lot of praise for making it such a success.

Jul 18th (Sun) School Festival

The Fuji school festival held today was a resounding success. A total of 2515 people came to the school to enjoy some Fuji hospitality in the form of the bazaar held by parents and former students, as well as a variety of shows, shops, and charity projects which the students had meticulously prepared. At around the scheduled finishing time, the heavens eventually opened, but the mood inside the school was not to be dampened and the day ended on the positive note on which it had begun.

To all those who took the trouble to come and visit the school, as well as to all the parents and students (past and present), a very, very big thank you!

Jul 16th (Fri) Junior School Chorus Competition

As the senior students put the finishing touches to their respective shops, stalls, and projects, the junior students congregated in the auditorium for their yearly chorus competition. First, second, and third years made their way to the stage to show off their chorus singing talents and the result was a joyous afternoon of beautiful singing which stirred the soul!

The girls put a lot of effort into perfecting their songs and, irrespective of whether they were awarded prizes or not, they were all winners today!

Jul 7th (Wed) Fire Drill

A fire drill was held at fourth period today for the entire school. Every year the situation is changed slightly, and today was no exception; the students had to evacuate the school with the fire doors activated, and there was also a session afterwards which taught the students how to actually use a fire extinguisher.

Jul 1st (Thu) First Year Observation Classes

The annual first year science/geography outing was held over four days for the four classes. Students spent the day observing the campus of Hokkaido University as well as the centre of Sapporo. They paid particular attention to the nature which typifies the beauty of the university campus, and then went on to look at the buildings around Sapporo station, learning about exactly how the city centre developed into what they were seeing before them. The girls also learned some more about their city; for example, they were told about where the rivers used to flow, almost all but forgotten now.

Almost all of the days where the students set off from school were extremely hot, in particular the second day, when Sapporo had its third hottest June since records began 133 years ago. Despite this, the students enjoyed a full day's walk and came away all the wiser for it!

Jun 8th (Fri) Spring Outings

Under a perfect blue sky, the various spring outings took place in a variety of locations.

The first year students went to pay their respects at the grave of the school founder, Bishop Kinold, as well as those of the sisters from the convent. This was followed by lunch and a look at the many animals at Maruyama zoo.

Second years found themselves at Sapporo Art Park, where they were able to enjoy watching the many interesting exhibits on display around this beautiful area.

Yurigahara Park was the stage for the third year group, who had fun with their "lunch box contest", "haiku competition", and games such as "Let's find the teacher!".

While the junior students were enjoying their individual trips, the senior students were enjoying a brisk 9 mile walk at Loch Shikotsu, followed by lunch on the shore with friends.
