May 15th (Fri) "Living with Leprosy"
All of the students congregated in the school auditorium today to listen to a talk by Miyoji Morimoto, a former patient at a Leprosy Sanatorium. Mr. Morimoto, who now spends his time fighting for basic human rights of former patients, gave an insightful talk on his various experiences. Students listened to his stories of having to endure discrimination from his childhood friends and schoolteachers, how he was encouraged by his friends at university, and how he and his family were shunned by society because of his affliction. This opportunity afforded the students a chance to learn something that cannot be found in any textbook, and left a very profound impression on them.

Apr 28th (Tue) NHK Programme Featuring Fuji
Last month, there was a bit of a kerfuffle on the 6th floor at Fuji. Second year students, unfamiliar “staff” mysteriously running to and fro, television camera teams. Erm, what’s all this about? Well, the school was talking part in two days’ worth of filming for an NHK television programme called “Welcome back!”, which will be aired on May the 3rd. The former 2-5 girls were treated to a special lesson by Maki Oguro, a former student of the school and now famous pop/rock singer, and were able to enjoy a very different style of class than that which they are normally used to, all the while learning about Maki's career in showbusiness.
The show is due to be broadcast on Sunday, May the 3rd from 08:25 until 08:55 on NHK General.
