Fuji was founded by The Sisters of St. Francis of the martyr St. George, an order based in the village of Thüine in Lingen, Germany. The Bishop of Sapporo at that time, Wenceslaus Kinold, invited three sisters, Johanna Solomon, Xavera Leme and Kanjita von Der Haar to Sapporo and in 1925, Fuji girl's school was founded.
